The trial court awarded $9,178.55 in compensatory damages in favor of Ortega and against Montoya. It also found that Montoyas conduct was willful and malicious and awarded damages of $2,500 and $1,000 in attorneys fees against Montoyas father under the Parental Responsibility Statute. ? 32-1-46, N.M.S.A. 1978. The Court of Appeals affirmed the award entered against Montoya, but reversed the judgment as to the parental liability. We granted certiorari and reverse the Court of Appeals on the issue of parental liability.
